Okay people this is one post EVERYONE on Facebook should read right now! First things first.
Facebook Charging
There are several reasons why Facebook will never charge for service so stop joining pointless groups and posting things that they are going to.
1. They would lose 90% of there users to Myspace or another free site that would gladly take it's place.
2. They make their money with advertisement!!!!!!!! You see those little adds on the side of your facebook page, yea, people pay big money every time someone clicks those.
TheBIG one. Malicious Facebook apps
Alright people lets get smart here and use common sense. Make sure you know what apps are and what they do before you add them to your profile, just like you would do on your computer with programs, mm k. Here is a list of what to watch out for;
1. Comments
2. Photo Comments
3. Feed
4 Anything that looks fishy
These are just the recent ones I've seen. They look legit when you get the notification, but you DO NOT have to add an app to see what someone tagged you in a photo, or see a comment someone left you, or posting on your wall! If you get one of these notifications you need to just go back and tell that user to remove that application, DO NOT add it, it will run a script and send fake notifications to all of your friends, spreading like fire through cheat grass. If you are unaware on how to get rid of these apps here is step by step.
Go to Applications (bottom left of your facebook page)
-click on edit applications (2nd from the bottom in the list)
-look for any application that is listed above or looks like a basic facebook feature that has a little x to the right of it. Don't worry you cannot remove your photos application that is standard with facebook, they will not let you.
*If you can't find it or it's not in that list, there is a drop down menu on the top right of that page that says Show: "Recently Used" well you can select several options, go though those different sorting an find that nasty lil bugger before it sends itself again.
Thanks for you read, NOW GO DO THIS!

Ride the Wave

Click the image to see it larger. Just something I came across showing what Google wave is all about, and it's features compared to other services/alternatives. I also have invites so if you want one shoot me an email. Basically Google Wave is very powerful for working on documents and sharing.

Your Web Presence
Whether you know it or not you have a web presence. This might not seem too important but potential employers and possible dates probably are Google stalking you. It could be in your best interest to know what is out there about you so you can manage it. WebMii is an online resource that scours the web for your name and displays the results. It searches websites like blogger, facebook, flickr, twitter, and bing. It does not know which Kyle Ford you are for instance but it shows you what people searching for you will be finding. On a related not you should check out and read these life hacker write ups about online reputation and how to manage it. Online Reputation and Google reputation.

You probably aren't even close to safe
If you're like most people you probably have the same password for all of your accounts or a close variation of such password. This probably isn't the end of the world except your passwords are probably relatively weak and easy to crack with a brute force attack. Chances are you also use your web browser to save passwords to your websites, this is probably this biggest no no you can commit. Firefox makes all passwords viewable hidden within it's options for example, but it also has a master password that locks all of that down, which is quite secure if you choose a password that is alpha-numeric & 8+ characters due to the near uncrackable AES encryption Firefox uses.
I suggest using a password manager because I know we all can't remember all of the different passwords websites force us to make. I prefer the sofware KeePass as it is cross platform, open source, and best of all FREE.
